Shane Hopkins, MD

Shane Hopkins, MD, a radiation oncologist practicing in Ames, Iowa, serves as secretary of the Organized Medical Staff Section (OMSS) Governing Council for the 2024-2026 term.

The OMSS is a member interest group within the AMA for physician medical staff leaders. The Section Governing Council is responsible for directing OMSS efforts to improve patient outcomes and the physician experience in the hospital setting.

Dr. Hopkins has two decades of prior experience as an AMA delegate and has previously held roles on the YPS Governing Council. He currently serves as chief of staff of a mid-sized community hospital.
