Over 400 medical students registered to participate in the MSS Assembly and Poster Showcase. Read on to find out what the MSS Assembly addressed related to resolutions, educational programs and the outcome of elections.

MSS resolutions

The AMA Medical Student Section discussed 21 items at their 2026 MSS Annual Meeting covering topics including medical education, governance, and health coverage. Please review the MSS policymaking webpage for the final actions posted in the MSS Annotated Reference Committee Report.

MSS programs

The MSS hosted four educational programs. Educational programs included:

  • Clinical Communication and Ethical Care for Patients With Undocumented or Uncertain Documentation Status
  • Navigating Tough Talks: Ethics and Communication in Healthcare
  • Fertility Preservation in Clinical Practice: Counseling Skills for At-Risk Adult Patients
  • On Call and on a Budget: Plant-Forward Eating Strategies for Medical Trainees

MSS elections

The MSS Governing Council members elected at the Annual Meeting 2026 include:

  • Vice chair—Likhit Agrawal
  • Speaker—Denise Ocampo
  • Vice speaker—Lily Robistow
  • Delegate—Phanisri Tummala
  • Alternate delegate—Vigneshwar Senthilkumar
  • At-large officer—Isabel Nguyen
  • DEI officer—Saaleha Shamsi

And a huge thank you to the outgoing Governing Council members:
