The philanthropic arm of the AMA includes a medical student representative

The AMA Foundation (AMAF) is the philanthropic arm of the AMA. The AMAF Board of Directors is composed of at least 13 and no more than 20 members, including a medical student representative. Because many of AMAF's activities involve assistance to medical students, the student member of the board provides valuable input to the board’s deliberations.

Responsibilities

  • Attend AMA Foundation Board meetings, three times per year (fall, winter and spring).
  • Participate in conference calls.
  • Attend the activities of the Foundation at the Annual Meeting in June and the Interim
  • Meeting in November.
  • The board will also appoint the student representative to serve on board committees.

Terms of service

One year, with the option to run for a second, one-year term, commencing in June.
