Subject line: 2026-27 Respiratory Virus Immunization Recommendations
In early September, the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Vaccine Integrity Project (VIP) announced the completed independent evidence review of respiratory virus immunizations, which confirmed protection against severe illness and death, and found no new safety concerns in comparative studies. The evidence reviews were published in JAMA.
These evidence reviews informed the 2026-27 respiratory virus season vaccine recommendations from the American Academy of Family Physicians (adults and healthcare personnel), American Academy of Pediatrics (children and adolescents), American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (pregnancy), and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (immunocompromised).
The AMA has launched a digital resource hub for clinicians and patients featuring medical specialty society recommendations, evidence reviews, and information for patients. Learn more at SpreadTheFacts.org.
