What’s the news: The AMA is inviting resident, early and midcareer physicians interested in pursuing private practice to register for the AMA Independent Practice Accelerator Workshop. This in-person event is designed for physicians thinking of opening a new independent practice, in the early stages of building a physician private practice or just looking to rediscover professional fulfillment in medicine by going back to work for themselves.
The workshop will feature presentations from experts in founding and growing independent physician practices, as well as hands-on breakout sessions focused on applying their insights. The two-day intensive event will give you the core competencies, essential online resources and vital business relationships—as well as turn-by-turn road maps—to launch, manage and scale an independent physician practice.
Held at the AMA’s Chicago headquarters Sept. 11–12, the workshop is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence you need in a concentrated, high-impact format. Enrollment is limited to 60 participants, and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The workshop is open to all physicians and physicians in training. AMA members receive a discounted registration fee. The registration deadline is Aug. 27. Learn more and register now.
Why it’s important: The healthcare landscape is ever-evolving, and physicians are considering independent practice for the autonomy, professional fulfillment and opportunity to deliver patient-centered care that it can provide. But starting an independent physician practice takes more than clinical skill—it requires business fundamentals, legal fluency and the right support network.
Making the leap can feel overwhelming, but the AMA is here to help you do it with clarity and confidence. Whether you are exploring the idea for the first time, have recently opened your doors or are simply looking to regain control of your medical career, the AMA Independent Practice Accelerator Workshop will give you a blueprint to tackle the challenge and strengthen your independent practice journey over time.
