The explosion of telehealth throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the need to assess the impact of telehealth to ensure continued access for patients and physicians. In this session, Vimal Mishra, MD, spoke on the AMA Return on Health (ROH) research and framework for measuring the value of virtual care across various types of practices, payment models, virtual care modalities and clinical conditions.

Vimal Mishra, MD, serves as the director of Digital Health at AMA and a medical director, associate professor of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
He provides clinical, strategic, research and informatics leadership to AMA digital health and VCU Health programs focused on developing, implementing, optimizing, innovating, and adopting EHR, Telehealth Augmented Intelligence (AI), Clinical Decision Support (CDS) tools, and other evidence-based digital health solutions.
He is a practicing physician and has many publications, research funding, and invention disclosures in the digital health space. Dr. Mishra completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is board-certified in internal medicine and clinical informatics and holds a graduate degree from the Duke Fuqua School of Business.
