Thomas “Blair” Matheson, MD, serves as the AAIP Representative for the Advisory Committee on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Affairs at the American Medical Association.
The Advisory Committee on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Affairs provides guidance to the AMA Board of Trustees and AMA management on policy and advocacy initiatives impacting AI/AN medical students, physicians, and patients, while also contributing to broader AMA efforts aimed at improving health outcomes for this population.
Dr. Matheson is the national board president of the Association of American Indian Physicians. He is an emergency room physician and medical director at National Medical Resources in North Dakota.
