The AMA Foundation (AMAF) is the philanthropic arm of the AMA. The AMAF Board of Directors is composed of at least 13 and no more than 20 members, including a medical student representative. Because many of AMAF's activities involve assistance to medical students, the student member of the board provides valuable input to the board’s deliberations.

Responsibilities
- Attend AMA Foundation Board meetings, three times per year (fall, winter and spring).
- Participate in conference calls.
- Attend the activities of the Foundation at the Annual Meeting in June and the Interim
- Meeting in November.
- The board will also appoint the student representative to serve on board committees.
Terms of service
One year, with the option to run for a second, one-year term, commencing in June.
