“It is an honor and a privilege to be elected by my peers to serve as speaker of the AMA House of Delegates,” said Dr. Egbert. “On the heels of twin pandemics of COVID-19 and rampant medical misinformation, data-and evidence-based solutions and advocacy from this House— particularly as we push for the AMA Recovery Plan for America’s Physicians—have never been more important.”

Dr. Egbert began her AMA service in medical school when she was selected to serve as the student representative on the Women in Medicine Advisory Panel. Subsequently, she was elected to the Resident Physician and the Young Physician sections’ (YPS) governing councils, serving as chair of the YPS. She was also previously a member of the AMPAC Board of Directors and the Council on Medical Service. She was elected vice speaker of the House of Delegates in 2019 and played an integral role in coordinating unprecedented virtual meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

An active participant at the state and local levels, Dr. Egbert is a former president of the Ohio State Medical Association and Montgomery County Medical Association.

Additionally, Dr. Egbert is an experienced parliamentarian and a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians and the American Institute of Parliamentarians.

Dr. Egbert has been a general OB-GYN in solo practice in Dayton, Ohio for more than 25 years, and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She received both her undergraduate and medical degrees from The Ohio State University.
