“The American Medical Association (AMA) commends The President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis for delivering a comprehensive report that provides an excellent roadmap for increasing access to medication-assisted treatment for patients with substance-use disorders and also demonstrates the need to eliminate barriers to accessing the full spectrum of multidisciplinary pain treatment options. The AMA is pleased that the commission agreed with many of the AMA’s previous suggestions, and we look forward to working with the Administration and Congress on next steps, including the needed financial resources.
