Avian flu coding & guidance

New Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) codes have been created that streamline the reporting of avian (bird) flu immunizations.

Unique CPT codes approved for avian (bird) flu

Category I and medicine/vaccines, toxoids

The CPT Editorial Panel has approved addition of code 90695 to identify influenza virus vaccine H5N8 derived from cell cultures, adjuvanted, for intramuscular use.

This code will be resequenced and is pending FDA approval.
