Many physicians do not have a primary care physician. Although this trend is changing, physicians have shown a pattern of self-diagnosis, self-treatment and self-prescribing. In the spirit of “keeping your instrument tuned,” it is important to expect from yourself what you would expect of your patients—monitoring your blood pressure, glycemic control, weight control and other measures.
