Digital therapeutics (DTx) deliver therapeutic interventions directly to patients using evidence-based, clinically evaluated software. From phones, tablets and the comfort of their own homes, patients are gaining access to proven digital therapeutic technologies designed for their use, their convenience and their improved health outcomes. Physicians are incorporating these technologies into their treatment plans to enhance their impact on patient health and expand access to care. Payers have the opportunity to reduce overall medical costs, support value-based care initiatives and improve member experience.
But for digital therapeutics to successfully treat, manage and prevent a broad spectrum of behavioral, mental and physical diseases and disorders, it is necessary to establish a foundational understanding of what these products are and how they can be successfully integrated into clinical use to address critical gaps in care.
