Sharmilee Shetty, MD, MHA, a family medicine physician, serves as alternate delegate of the Women Physicians Section Governing Council for the 2026-28 term.
The WPS is a member interest group within the AMA for women physicians and medical students. The section governing council is responsible for increasing the membership, participation and leadership of women in the AMA as well as advocating on women’s health and women in medicine policy issues.
Dr. Shetty completed her residency at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York and is currently an assistant professor of medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine. She earned her master’s in healthcare administration from the Brooks School of Public Policy at Cornell University. Dr. Shetty has held multiple leadership roles within Northwell Health, where she currently practices, and is deeply committed to advancing physician leadership, making meaningful change in healthcare, and supporting women physicians. She is passionate about making a meaningful difference through advocacy, mentorship, and service.
