Shaminy Manoranjithan, MD, a vascular surgery resident at Corewell Health/Michigan State University, serves as the Resident & Fellow Section representative to the Women Physicians Section for the 2026-2028 term.
The WPS is a member interest group within the AMA for women physicians and medical students. The section governing council is responsible for increasing the membership, participation and leadership of women in the AMA as well as advocating on women’s health and women in medicine policy issues.
Sham graduated from Emory University with a bachelors in anthropology & human biology and chemistry. She later worked as a high school statistics teacher and as a clinical research coordinator prior to attending medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has been involved in the AMA since medical school and has served in a variety of roles including delegate to the House of Delegates for the MSS and RFS. She has also been an HOD Reference Committee volunteer for two terms, and member of our own WPS GRROWL committee.
