Marilyn Mathews, a member of the Medical Student Section (MSS) of the AMA, serves as the student representative on the Women Physicians Section Governing Council.
The WPS is a member interest group within the AMA for women physicians and medical students. The section governing council is responsible for increasing the membership, participation and leadership of women in the AMA as well as advocating on women’s health and women in medicine policy issues.
Mathews is a graduate of the City College of New York (CCNY) in Harlem, New York and completed the Accelerated Master’s Program at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She has been a member of the AMA since 2024, serving on a local level as president of her school chapter, on a state level as membership chair of the Medical Society of the State of New York, and on a national level on the WPS policymaking committee.
