The AMA Women Physicians Section (WPS) held its 2026 Interim Business meeting on Friday, Nov. 6.

Your Powerful Ally
Through AMA advocacy and policymaking, we are addressing the issues important to you—together—and shaping what’s next for physicians.

Education session

During this session, the WPS reviewed a resolution authored by the section:

  • Resolution 808: Increasing Payment for Patient Portal Messages

The WPS, RFS, and UMAS collaborated on a joint education program, “Who Speaks for You When You’re Not in the Room? Sponsorship, Allyship, and Building Inclusive Physician Leadership” with Dr. Tom Cooney, Dr. Michael Knight, and Dr. Warren Ng as speakers. This session examined the differences between mentorship, sponsorship, coaching, and allyship, with a focus on how sponsorship helps physicians gain promotion, leadership roles, visibility, and career opportunities.

WPS business

During the WPS business meeting, members heard AMPAC and AMA Foundation updates, conducted a review of the HOD Handbook. The WPS GRROWL Committee hosted a leadership development program focusing on how to prioritize time using the Eisenhower Matrix.
