Saaleha Shamsi, a medical student at the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), serves as DEI officer of the Medical Student Section (MSS) Governing Council for the 2026-2027 term.
The MSS is a member interest group within the AMA for medical students. The governing council is responsible for directing MSS efforts at the national level to improve medical education and advocate for the future of medicine.
Shamsi has been a member of the AMA since 2022, serving in numerous roles including Region 5 vice chair, advocacy chair, OSMA Medical Student Section chair and in several committees.
