Through AMA advocacy and policymaking, we are addressing the issues important to you—together—and shaping what’s next for physicians.

The LGBTQ+ Section business meeting featured partner updates from GLMA, the AMA Foundation, AMPAC and the AMA Board of Trustees. Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions and if you have an interest in joining one of the section committees: membership and engagement, research and education, and policy.

Resolutions

The LGBTQ+ Section forwarded three resolutions to the 2026 Interim Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates. Please stay tuned to review the resulting actions on section resolutions.

Education program

The LGBTQ+ Section cohosted an educational program with the Resident and Fellow Section (RFS), Underrepresented in Medicine Advocacy Section (UMAS), and Women Physicians Section (WPS) titled “Who Speaks for You When You’re Not in the Room? Sponsorship, Allyship, and Building Inclusive Physician Leadership.”

The program featured a panel discussion with Tom Cooney, MD; Michael Knight, MD; and Warren Ng, MD, MPH; and moderated by Shazia Pathan, MD. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this powerful conversation, which offered practical takeaways and actionable strategies for pursuing sponsorship and advancing inclusive physician leadership.
