Janice Heaton-Sheufelt, MD, serves as vice chair and member at-large on the Advisory Committee on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Affairs at the American Medical Association. 

The Advisory Committee on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Affairs provides guidance to the AMA Board of Trustees and AMA management on policy and advocacy initiatives impacting AI/AN medical students, physicians, and patients, while also contributing to broader AMA efforts aimed at improving health outcomes for this population.

Dr. Heaton Sheufelt is a clinical practice family physician at her local community hospital in Juneau, Alaska. She is a board member of the Alaska State Medical Association and has been very involved in organized medicine.
