The education, member engagement, and policy committees made significant contributions to the assembly meeting:
- Education: APS, in conjunction with the Organized Medical Staff Section, presented a session, “Psychological Safety in the Workplace: Practical Strategies to Cultivate a Supportive Environment.” This interactive session explored the concept of psychological safety, its implications for the workplace, and practical strategies to cultivate a supportive environment. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a case study addressing effective psychological safety initiatives in health care. Burl Stamp, FACHE, is the president/founder of Stamp & Chase, and Nicole Escobedo, MEd, is the senior director of the Office of Well-Being and Professionalism at Jefferson Health, served as panelists. Tochi Iroku-Malize, MD, APS chair-elect and APS Education Committee chair, served as the moderator.
- Member engagement: The roundtable forum, “Leading through Change: Supporting Learners in an Evolving Regulatory Environment,” highlighted institutional and individual strategies to deal with regulatory changes impacting academic medicine. Neel Shah, MB, APS immediate past chair, was the moderator. Various APS Governing Council and Member Engagement Committee members served as facilitators.
- Policy: “From Vision to Action: Developing Impactful Policy,” a policymaking panel and workshop, featured resolution authors who shared their experience in successful resolution writing. Following the panel, attendees worked with resolution authors to formulate ideas and gain hands-on experience with drafting a resolution.
