Supporting you today as a medical student. Protecting your future as a physician.

Joining the nation’s largest physician organization has considerable benefits. In addition to playing a direct role in shaping the future of health care, AMA members enjoy exclusive access to savings and resources designed to enhance the personal and professional lives of physicians, residents and students.

How do these comprehensive members-only offerings help you stay ahead during medical school? Here’s a quick glance.

The AMA holds its Annual and Interim Meetings at which elected members can help shape policy in the Association’s House of Delegates (HOD). The AMA Medical Student Section, which deliberates as part of the HOD, is the largest medical student organization in the country.

In addition to AMA meetings, events such as the AMA Medical Student Advocacy & Region Conference give members the opportunity to advocate, with legislators, for the issues that will shape the future of medicine.

In your time as a medical student, the scores you record on the first portion of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE®)—or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Exam (COMLEX-USA®)—will play a large role in determining your options for residency programs.

The AMA and Kaplan have teamed up to support you in reaching your goal of passing the USMLE® or COMLEX-USA®. If you're looking for additional resources, Kaplan provides free access to tools for pre-clinical studies, including Kaplan’s Lecture Notes series, Integrated Vignettes, Shelf Prep and more. The AMA also offers a series of test-prep questions for the USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3 exams.
