This year’s keynote speaker will be Abraham Verghese, MD, New York Times bestselling author, practicing physician and professor at Stanford University. A recipient of the National Humanities Medal from President Obama, Dr. Verghese is a prominent voice in medicine with a uniquely humanistic view of the future of health care. Dr. Verghese is trained in infectious diseases and pulmonary medicine and is a co-host of the Medicine and the Machine podcast. Outside of health care, Dr. Verghese is a highly successful author, with multiple titles having appeared on the New York Times bestseller list including his first novel Cutting for Stone and his most recent long-awaited second novel, The Covenant of Water.
