As the physicians’ powerful ally in patient care, the AMA delivers on this mission by representing physicians with a unified voice.
The AMA’s broad work across health care is focused in three core strategies:
- Driving the future of medicine by reimagining medical education, training, and lifelong learning, and by promoting innovation to tackle the biggest challenges in health care
- Removing obstacles that interfere with patient care, re-centering health care on the patient-physician relationship
- Improving the health of the nation by leading the charge to prevent chronic disease and confront health crises and eliminate health inequities
The AMA’s system of governance and policy making include the board of trustees, House of Delegates, executive vice president, councils and committees, special sections (groups), and AMA senior leadership and staff.
