The 2020 AMA Research Symposium was hosted virtually from Thursday, Dec. 3 (noon Central) through Sunday, Dec. 6, (noon Central) and featured a research gallery and competition with more than 450 posters from medical students, residents and international medical graduates.

Poster topics included public health, COVID-19, basic science, health systems science, medical education and more.

Wednesday, Jan. 13, 7 p.m. Central

Five top-voted finalists from the symposium were chosen to present their research to a panel of judges and compete to be named the overall winner at the AMA Research Challenge in January!

The finalists are:

  • Shamsh Shaikh
  • Aimen Vanood

The AMA Research Symposium provides medical students, residents/fellows, and international medical graduates a best-in-class opportunity to build and showcase research and engage with the AMA beyond traditional policy and advocacy opportunities.

Abstracts were submitted for topics including: public health, basic science, health system science, medical education/wellness innovation, and clinical vignettes.

COVID-19 related abstracts were encouraged for submission under the public health topic this year.
