Sheila Rege, MD

Sheila Rege, MD, was elected to the American Medical Association Board of Trustees in June 2025. A board-certified radiation oncologist trained in nuclear medicine, she is based in Washington state’s Tri-Cities region.

Within the AMA, Dr. Rege chaired the AMA Council on Medical Service in 2024 and served as a specialty advisor to the CPT® and RUC committees. She is a former chair of Washington’s Health Technology Clinical Committee, which reviews clinical evidence and makes coverage decisions that determine under what circumstance state purchased health programs will cover or pay for selected health technologies. She is a former board member of the Washington State Medical Association and past president of the American College of Radiation Oncology and the Benton Franklin County Medical Society.

Dr. Rege founded Northwest Cancer Clinic and has practiced in physician-owned, hospital-based and academic settings. Her prior roles include serving as cancer program chair at Washington’s Providence Kadlec medical center, medical director of a multispecialty group, and research director at LSU Shreveport. In addition, she has shepherded early-stage artificial intelligence and data ventures through the University of Washington Foster School’s Creative Destruction Lab.

Dr. Rege serves as an independent director of Mirion Technologies (NYSE: MIR), a radiation-safety company operating in more than 12 countries, where she sits on the audit and compensation committees.

She previously served on the board of Physicians Insurance, a professional liability company, where she chaired the Nominating Committee and served on the compensation, executive, and CEO succession committees. Currently, she continues to serve on its Risk Committee.

Dr. Rege holds a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) directorship certification, a NACD/Carnegie Mellon cyber-risk oversight certification, and the Diligent Institute’s AI Ethics & Board Oversight Certification. With an MS in finance, a BA in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MD from the University of California, Los Angeles, she received the American College of Radiation Oncology Gold Medal in 2023 and the AMA Women Physicians Section Inspiration Award in 2021.

Dr. Rege brings clinical practice, public-company board service, audit and compensation committee work and health technology assessment to the AMA Board of Trustees.
