Alisha Reiss, MD, a general surgeon from Greenville, Ohio, serves as chair-elect of the Young Physicians Section (YPS) Governing Council for the 2024-2025 term.
The YPS is a member interest group within the AMA for physicians under 40 years of age or within the first eight years of professional practice after residency and fellowship training. The governing council is responsible for enhancing young physician practice of medicine, including the transition into practice and facilitating the participation of young physicians in policy development.
Dr. Reiss is a general surgeon with Wayne HealthCare. She has been an active and engaged member of the AMA and OSMA for more than a decade. She has represented medical students, residents and young physicians at both the state and national levels. She has been actively involved in health policy and state advocacy issues by serving on the OSMA Focused Taskforce on State Legislation. Dr. Reiss helped create a Young Physician Section in the state of Ohio. As part of the new section, young physicians will have dedicated voices in the Ohio House of Delegates.
