Physician Spotlight

Physicians are constantly looking for ways to provide the best patient care. Today, many physicians are looking to electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other health information technology (HIT) to aid care delivery, but also to provide new opportunities for improving care. Of course, implementing any HIT takes enthusiasm, time and resources, but the benefits can be worth the wait—worth a missed paycheck (or two) even—at least according to Dr. Robert Lamberts, senior partner at Evans Medical Group, a four-physician practice in Evans, Ga., and winner of the 2003 Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Davies Award for effective use of health care technology.

The AMA recently spoke with Dr. Lamberts about his HIT experiences.
