2024 featured speakers
Narayana Murali, MD—Keynote speaker
Chief medical officer, medicine services of Geisinger Health and immediate past chair, AMA Integrated Physician Practice Section (IPPS) Governing Council
Dr. Murali has served as executive vice president of care delivery and chief strategy officer at Marshfield Clinic Health System in Marshfield, Wisconsin, since 2014, where he was heavily involved in driving and shaping its transformation.
Dr. Murali earned his medical degree at the University of Madras in India, completed his internship at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania, and his residency at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minnesota. He also completed a National Institutes of Health-sponsored Clinician Investigator Training Program and a fellowship in kidney disease at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, as well as the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
Deb Clements, MD, FAAFP
Chair, National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and professor and chairman of Family and Community Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
Dr. Clements began as professor and chairman of Family and Community Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in May 2013. She is also the inaugural program director of the Northwestern McGaw FMR at Lake Forest. In 2015, she was endowed as the Nancy and Warren Furey Professor of Community Medicine. In 2002, she completed a primary care health policy fellowship with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She holds a certificate in medical bioethics and completed a fellowship in integrative medicine in 2017 at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Clements currently serves on the Association of Departments of Family Medicine Board of Directors. Previously, she served as president of the AFMRD Board of Directors. Dr. Clements also is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and the Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators.
Ricardo Correa, MD, EdD, FACE, FACP, FACMQ
Immediate past chair, International Medical Graduates (IMGS) Governing Council, member of the Council on Medical Education, program director for endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism fellowship and the director for Health Equity Center at the Cleveland Clinic
Dr. Correa completed his medical school and master’s in education at The University of Panama. He completed a research fellowship in epidemiology and tropical disease at I.C.G.E.S. in Panama City and his internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital-University of Miami (U.M.) program. In 2012, he was honored with the A.O.A. and GoldDOC Award from the U.M. Then, he pursued his clinical and research fellowship in endocrinology with a particular focus on neuroendocrinology and adrenals at the National Institute of Health.
Charles Lopresto, DO
Internal medicine specialist and chair of the Young Physicians Section for the Medical Society of the State of New York
Dr. Lopresto is an internal medicine specialist practicing hospital-based medicine in the Department of Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. He is the immediate-past president of the Medical Society of the County of Queens, chair of the Young Physicians Section for the Medical Society of the State of New York. He also serves as a councilor for the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the New York Chapter of the American College of Physicians. Lastly, he serves on the advisory group for the AMA Research Challenge and has held several leadership positions related to the promotion of research and evidence-based medicine in the AMA and AOA as a medical student and resident physician.
Mark C. Meyer, MD
Past chair of the AMA Academic Physicians Section (APS) and senior associate dean for student affairs at University of Kansas School of Medicine
Dr. Meyer, the Alice M. Patterson, M.D. and Harold L. Patterson, M.D. professor of family medicine, has been on the faculty at the University of Kansas School of Medicine since 1992. Dr. Meyer has served as associate dean for student affairs since 2000 and in 2018 was appointed senior associate dean for student affairs. Dr. Meyer currently serves on the American Medical Association Academic Physicians Section Governing Council, serving as the past chair.
Jordan M. Warchol, MDH, MPH
Emergency medicine physician and chair of the AMA Young Physicians Section (YPS) Governing Council for 2023-2024
Dr. Warchol is an educator and health policy specialist. She is the University of Nebraska Medical Center Health System Sciences Course director, where she is on faculty and in clinical practice in their College of Medicine. Passionate about advocating for physicians and patients, she has been involved in organized medicine since medical school. She serves on the Nebraska Medical Association’s Board of Directors and is active in the American College of Emergency Physicians.
