Physician data are a key component of many practices, especially as physicians consider new types of payment structures requiring regular performance analysis. Physician data are also becoming more widely available to patients to assist with health care decisions. Researchers and other stakeholders are using physician data to study population health, costs and quality of care as well. The AMA is committed to securing safeguards that protect the accuracy and integrity of this data.
