Roberta Gebhard, DO, a family medicine doctor in Grand Island, New York, serves as the AMWA Representative of the Women Physicians Section Governing Council for the 2021-2023 term.
The WPS is a member interest group within the AMA for women physicians and medical students. The section governing council is responsible for increasing the membership, participation and leadership of women in the AMA as well as advocating on women’s health and women in medicine policy issues.
Dr. Gebhard is the past president of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) She is also the founder of AMWA’s Gender Equity Task Force (GETF). The mission of AMWA GETF is to accomplish gender equity as a fact of life for women physicians.
