Aleesha Shaik, MD, MPH, a cardiology fellow physician at the University of California, Los Angeles, serves as the WPS chair for the 2022-2024 term and the RFS representative of the Women Physicians Section Governing Council for the 2022-2024 term.

The WPS is a member interest group within the AMA for women physicians and medical students. The section governing council is responsible for increasing the membership, participation and leadership of women in the AMA as well as advocating on women’s health and women in medicine policy issues.

Dr. Shaik is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and Drexel University College of Medicine. She received her Master of Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She completed her residency in internal medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Shaik was the former vice chair of the MSS, the former chair of the MSS Region 6, and the former chair of the RFS Committee on Long Range Planning.
