Aleesha Shaik, MD, an internal medicine resident physician at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, serves as the chair of the AMA Women Physicians Section (WPS) Governing Council for the 2022-2023 term. She also serves as the Resident and Fellow Section representative to the WPS for the 2022-2024 term.
The WPS is a member interest group within the AMA for women physicians and medical students. The section governing council is responsible for increasing the membership, participation and leadership of women in the AMA as well as advocating on women’s health and women in medicine policy issues.
Dr. Shaik is a graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine and received her Master of Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She also serves as current chair of the RFS Committee on Long Range Planning. Dr. Shaik was the former vice chair of the AMA-MSS.
