The MSS Assembly had one immediate forward to the HOD pertaining to a resolution calling for transparency regarding the announcement of 17,000 cuts to military health providers. This resolution addresses concerns related to proposed government cuts to military physicians, nurses, technicians, dentists, medics and support personnel as part of a larger reorganization of services under the Defense Health Agency.
The MSS Committee on Community Service hosted a National Service Project during the meeting on Friday, June 7, 2019. During this time, 30 medical students visited the Chicago Recovery Alliance where they put together recovery kits for people in recovery.
The MSS hosted/sponsored over 11 educational programs for the membership addressing topics such as student debt, sexual harassment, women in medicine, and the opioid epidemic.
The MSS heard from the Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams, in a surprise visit to the Assembly on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

At the conclusion of the Annual Meeting, Sarah Mae Smith will serve as the Board of Trustees Liaison to the MSS this coming year. The GRAF for 2019-2020 is Hari Iyer.
