Elections will be held at the Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates on June 13, 2023.

Officers and seven councils are elected by the American Medical Association House of Delegates (HOD) at the Annual Meeting. The elections are conducted during a special election session under the supervision of the Committee on Rules and Credentials and the chief teller, who are appointed by the speakers. The speaker and vice speaker are responsible for overall administration of the elections. Voting is conducted by secret ballot.


Dan Pfeifle, MD

Dan Pfeifle, MD, has a proven track record of leadership and advocacy in the medical field. As the current AMA Resident/Fellow Section delegate, Dan has worked tirelessly to represent and address the concerns of residents and fellows across the country. 

Dan is a strong advocate for the rights and needs of physicians. He has worked closely within the AMA and with state medical societies to promote policies that improve the lives of physicians and their patients. 

Dan has been actively involved in policy, serving as a delegate to the House of Delegates since medical school. Locally, he previously served as the founder and chair of the Policy and Advocacy Committee during his residency at the Mayo Clinic and has actively participated in state-level advocacy during his fellowship in Indiana. 

Dan is committed to putting people first. With his extensive experience and dedication, Dan will continue to work to improve our AMA so that it can be the advocacy body it needs to be for our patients and our profession.
