The International Conference Recognition (ICR) program was started in 1990 by the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates, in recognition of the fact that international congresses present opportunities for physicians to participate in quality educational programs and collaborate with colleagues. The ICR program recognizes a few conferences each year and provides physicians with an opportunity to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ at these approved events.

If you are a physician interested in obtaining AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for participation in an approved conference, we can provide a list of upcoming approved international conferences.

The AMA ICR Program is intended for large international congresses. Please contact Mary Kelly if you have an interest in applying for activity approval and represent:

  • A not-for-profit membership organization with individual or organizational members in different countries, or
  • A joint effort of multiple not-for-profit organizations such as academic, research, government and/or membership-based institutions
