Shannon Bruno Bishop is the Louisiana Office of Workers’ Compensation (OWC) Chief Judge. As chief judge of the OWC, Judge Bishop administers the mediation and judicial functions of the Hearings Division on a statewide level. She develops policies and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the Hearings Division. She also reviews, recommends and directs the drafting of changes in the Hearing rules and Workers’ Compensation Act.
Judge Bishop is a native of New Orleans and graduated from Tulane University with a BA in sociology and The University of Mississippi School of Law with a JD. She is admitted in all state and federal courts in Mississippi and Louisiana. Prior to becoming the chief judge, Judge Bishop served as a district judge and mediator in Harahan and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Judge Bishop is president-elect of the National Association of Workers’ Compensation Judiciary (NAWCJ), where she also serves on the Lex & Verum Editorial Committee, Long-range Planning Committee, Curriculum Committee and chair of the Conference Committee.
