Lylas G. Mogk, MD, is an ophthalmologist, founder and director emeritus of the Henry Ford Health System Center for Vision Rehabilitation, which has become the largest comprehensive multi-disciplinary medical vision rehabilitation program in the country.  Dr. Mogk is chair of the Michigan Commission for Blind Persons and past chair of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Vision Rehabilitation Committee and the Michigan Network for Vision Rehabilitation. She previously served on the AMA Panel on Assessing Older Drivers.

Dr. Mogk was instrumental in gaining CMS recognition of vision rehabilitation as a reimbursable therapy and in developing a definition of vision rehabilitation that has been adopted by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER).

She has lectured and published for both lay and professional audiences on the impact of visual impairment and vision rehabilitation and has received the Migel Medal from the American Foundation for the Blind, distinguished service awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Optometric Association, the distinguished alumni award from the Kresge Eye Institute and the AER Literature Award for her book Macular Degeneration: The Complete Guide to Saving and Maximizing Your Sight.
