Abbie Hudgens, MPA, is an advisor to the AMA Guides Editorial Panel and the administrator of the State of Tennessee Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Prior to leading the bureau, Ms. Hudgens was risk manager for Metro Nashville/Davidson County, the risk/benefits manager for Knoxville and a consultant in the private practice sector. A Tennessee native, she received a BA from the University of Memphis and an MPA from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She has held positions as the national president of the Public Risk Management Association, president of the Knoxville Risk Management Society, Tennessee Valley Benefits Council and an ex officio member of the Tennessee Advisory Council on Workers’ Compensation.

She was also the chairman of the board of HC 21, an employer-led healthcare coalition. She is a past president of the Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators and is the immediate past president of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions.
