Awards, Grants and Internships for Residents

AMA-FDA Internship Program

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Professional Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement (PASE) is offering 4 week elective rotations for AMA medical student and resident members at the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). Two residents and 1 medical student will receive a stipend from the AMA as well as an opportunity to meet with AMA staff at the Washington D.C. office. The FDA may select additional applicants beyond those who receive a stipend from the AMA.

During the rotation, the interns will be assigned to a preceptor, a medical officer at CDER, and will work directly with their preceptor on issues related to drug development, drug review and drug safety. They will also have the opportunity to learn about FDA’s regulatory activities and its role in enhancing collaboration with health care professionals, patients and patient advocacy groups. The start date is flexible, but the rotation must be completed in 2017.
