Work Group Composition

A core component of the AMA-convened Physician Consortium for Peformance Improvement® (PCPI®) process is use of cross-specialty, multidisciplinary expert work groups.

Representatives of all relevant disciplines of medicine and other health care professionals are invited to participate as equal contributors to the measure development process. The PCPI also strives to include individuals representing the perspectives of patients, consumers, private health plans and employers.

Liaisons from key measure development organizations, including The Joint Commission and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) also participate in measure development to ensure harmonization of measures. Coding experts are also important members of the group.

This broad-based approach ensures measure buy-in from all stakeholders and minimizes bias toward any individual specialty or stakeholder group.
