Submission of Measure Topics and Enhancements
The American Medical Association (AMA)-convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement® (PCPI®) appreciates the interest of our members in working to develop new performance measures and seeking enhancements to existing measure sets.
Given the continued evolution of performance measure implementation in various existing programs (e.g., PQRS, GPRO, EHR Incentive Program, Implementation of Value Modifier, Medical Board MOC), the PCPI measure development and maintenance work plan for 2012 will need to remain flexible while also addressing current priority areas, including
- Completion of measure and specification development begun in 2011;
- Measures scheduled for review and maintenance in 2012;
- Emphasis on adding outcomes measures to our portfolio;
- Measure testing;
- Maintenance of NQF endorsement; and
- Current contractual obligations under government grants.
The PCPI also seeks to add to its portfolio measures of "overuse" and is evaluating the PCPI Independent Measure Development Process. The date for submission of topics for 2012 has passed.
The PCPI is in the early stages of exploring options for effectively and efficiently managing our measure maintenance process. We are gathering input on ways in which PCPI member organizations, who contributed significantly to the original measure development process, could take a broader role in conducting the formal review and enhancement of existing measure sets. Should you have any questions about these efforts, please direct them to Mark Antman, DDS, MBA at (312) 464-5056.
