Academic Physician Section (APS) Meeting Resources
The Academic Physicians Section (APS) meeting begins at 12:30 p.m. on June 9 (with an optional new member orientation at 11:30 a.m.). That day, meeting participants will learn about a variety of topics, including:
- The progress of the AMA's Accelerating Change in Medical Education consortium
- How the APS plays a role in AMA policy setting
- Updates on the Academic Leadership Program, which offers 20 % or higher discounts on AMA dues for medical school deans and faculty
Following the June 9 meeting, academic physicians can participate in other events of interest including:
Join the Council on Medical Education at 3 p.m. for its forum, “Leadership in Medical Education.”
Join the section for a review of medical education-related reports/resolutions to go before the AMA House of Delegates. Section members will vote (e.g., adopt, adopt as amended, refer, not adopt) on proposed APS actions on these items. In addition, APS members will elect the members of the 2017-2018 APS Governing Council.

Academic Medicine Caucus: Network and explore medical education issues. The Reference Committee C (which addresses medical education issues) report will be a key topic of discussion.
