Genetic Testing in Children

You state: There are a number of issues that arise when you consider testing a child or future child for a genetic condition, especially if you are testing for a disease that will not affect that child until they are older. It is very important that you consider what implications testing any future children may have.

Rebecca: I need to know if I may pass on these disease genes to any children that I may have in the future.

You continue: As you know, women who carry either a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation do not develop cancer before they are into their 20's (usually later in life) and screening is not recommended for children.
