Genetic Discrimination
Beyond medical care, when considering a genetic test, there are concerns of discrimination through a patient losing health or life insurance coverage, losing a job, or perhaps feeling socially stigmatized.

Rebecca: I am really worried about insurance coverage. I have heard from some of my friends that a patient's insurance company can stop coverage if they find out you have had a genetic test - and that's without even getting results!

I'm so worried about developing cancer, how could I risk losing coverage through having a simple medical test? That doesn't make any sense to me at all. Can my insurance company drop my health or life coverage, is that legal?
