Educational Objectives

In completing this module, users will accomplish the following goals:

  • Achieve a better understanding of the ethical issues surrounding genetic testing in general (as well as those specifically related to BRCA1 and BRCA2)

  • Improve their ability to discuss with patients the possible implications of genetic testing during a pre-test counseling visit

  • Realize the limits of their expertise in discussing and knowing who, when, and where to refer

  • Become aware of information resources on the internet
