New book examines health care and the health professions

New book examines health care and the health professions

A new book by Thomas Elwood, executive director of the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions, looks at health care through several different lenses, including demographic, epidemiological, economic, technological, health workforce, and prevention.

In the health workforce segment, for example, Elwood writes, "Uncoordinated care must be addressed, especially for patients with comorbidities. Health professionals need to work more effectively together as members of teams. Interprofessional education and clinical training should become a standard ingredient in the preparation of practitioners."
