How It Works

Reviewing information about patient medication: The prescriber can review and update a patient's current medication list and history. Multiple sources of this information can be reconciled in the process.

Managing an existing medication: The prescriber can view medication details, make changes to prescriptions, or renew medications as necessary.

Prescribing a new medication: The prescriber can search for medications using favorites lists and other filters, and display medications with personalized dosing information. Once a medication is selected, the prescriber can review warnings and enter usage information.

Authorizing the prescription: The prescriber electronically signs one or more prescriptions created in the system.

Transmitting the prescription: The prescription is transmitted via high-speed Internet service to the preferred pharmacy in real time. At this point, the prescriber can also complete any needed documentation for the medical record.
