Attend the AMA-MAS business meeting Nov. 15
Members of the AMA Minority Affairs Section (MAS) invite you to attend the AMA-MAS business meeting and reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., prior to the AMA Interim Meeting.
Keynote speaker J. Nadine Gracia, MD, director of the Office of Minority Health and deputy assistant secretary for minority health, will discuss how to address racial and ethnic disparities in health care. The meeting also will feature an open forum on AMA House of Delegates reports and resolutions that impact minority physicians and patients. All are welcome to attend. Health equity resource toolkit helps address obesity
A toolkit and Web page from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can assist physicians and others in public health apply a systematic approach to program planning using a health equity lens.
The purpose of the Health Equity Toolkit is to increase the capacity of state health departments and their partners to work with and through communities to implement effective responses to obesity in populations that face health disparities.
The AMA Minority Affairs Section promotes educating all patients about lifestyle changes that can be made to prevent obesity. Email the AMA-MAS if you have a project or idea that could help prevent health disparities or raise awareness regarding obesity prevention.
