FREIDA Online revamped as go-to source for residency, fellowship help

The leading resource for medical students and residents gathering information about graduate medical education programs now is better than ever. The newly upgraded FREIDA Online provides comprehensive assistance for physicians in training who are searching for and applying to residency and fellowship programs.

More intuitive and easier to use, FREIDA Online now offers such features as mobile device optimization, an enhanced search function and a map that plots program locations. AMA members have access to additional practical features, including a tool to compare programs side by side and the ability to save searches and programs. Members also can use a dashboard to add notes and ratings to individual programs as well as track the statuses of their applications and interviews.

"Tens of thousands of medical students and residents use FREIDA Online every year to help them find the residency program or fellowship that best fits their needs—no other resource provides the same breadth and depth of information," AMA President Ardis D. Hoven, MD, said in a news release. "The AMA is committed to helping physicians in training and physicians thrive at every stage of their career, which is why we've re-engineered FREIDA Online to be as user-friendly as possible."

FREIDA Online is available to AMA members and non-members, but all users will be required to create a free account to access the updated resource.

By using FREIDA Online, medical students and residents can find information for the more than 9,400 graduate medical education programs accredited by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education and the more than 100 board-approved combined specialty programs. FREIDA Online also displays aggregate training program statistics for each specialty and subspecialty and information about recent graduates of each training program.
