Plan to participate in AMA-WPC events at June meeting
The AMA Women Physicians Caucus (WPC) will be hosting a liaison meeting at 1–1:45 p.m. June 15 in Columbus C and D of the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Participants will discuss topics for future AMA-WPC educational sessions and themes for the September "Women in Medicine" month.
Also on June 15, the AMA-WPC caucus and reception will take place at 5:30–7:30 p.m. in Columbus I and J of the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The agenda for this event includes a networking reception, exciting research results and presentations from the 2012 Joan F. Giambalvo Memorial Scholarship winners, an AMA-WPC update and a caucus on AMA House of Delegates items of business.
AMA-WPC hosts joint education session on the aging physician
The AMA Women Physicians Congress (WPC) is co-hosting a joint education session June 15: "The Aging Physician: Opportunities and Challenges."
This session, scheduled for noon in the Crystal A Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Chicago, will address the assessment of clinical competency in older physicians and will be hosted alongside the AMA Council on Science and Public Health, Council on Medical Education, Senior Physicians Section, Organized Medical Staff Section, Section on Medical Schools and Young Physicians Section.
The program will focus on understanding impairment in older physicians as well as facilitating the planning of prevention strategies. The session will examine what role the AMA should play in determining competency measurements in an aging workforce.
This program is approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
